Shelby J. Flanagan, editor of the Malsis Books website, is a skilled dancer and flutist with keen intuition and a compassionate heart. At the age of eight she started using her creativity and deep love for her dog, Dolly, to write Dolly Jeanne the Nervous Service Dog. After much hard work, Shelby is excited to see these drawings at the kitchen table turn into a real, published book. “There was something I had to do, and I figured out what it was.”

Lyla T. Flanagan, content creator for Dolly Jeanne, The Nervous Service Dog and the Malsis Books website, loves writing, dogs, and especially creating stories inspired by them. This graphic novel is based on her own Malinois, who brings plenty of personality and inspiration to Lyla’s creative expression. Lyla is also a talented singer-songwriter and multiinstrumentist excited about her bright future ahead.

James Flanagan, a former New York City Transit Cop and retired New York City Fireman, currently resides in Castle Rock, Colorado. James is the technical advisor to the Mal Sis Book series. His goal in helping with this book series is to encourage veterans, retired police officers, and firefighters to recognize symptoms and treat their PTSD.

Dolly isn’t an author but still is helping us with the book. She loves to invite herself up on the sofa and beg for food. She is so cute and has many different vibrant colors! Dolly enjoys ripping through the backyard, eating chicken, salmon, and steak, running around crazily and being a Malligator in the morning (Malinois, Alligator) At the end of the day after her needs are met; food, water, walks, and snuggles, she will become a couch potato and live her best life! But if someone comes to the door she will bark as loud as possible and notify us that Amazon dropped off a package!
